As many schools grapple with the question of student centered (or learner centered) education, Auburn Early Education Center, in Auburn, Alabama has decided to put words into action. Using a project-based curriculum to provide “authentic, real-world learning opportunities” for their students, students are encouraged to become explorers. According to AEEC principal Lilli Land, “you have to learn to be a problem solver; you have to learn to be resourceful. So we teach them [students] to be lifelong learners.” Ultimately, Land believes the school’s role is to help its students go after information “while keeping them excited about the learning process.” Check out more about AEEC’s program here. tlb
