Kandice Sumner may not be a household name but her work in Boston Public Schools is inspirational. Sumner created and facilitates a professional development curriculum entitled R.A.C.E. (race, achievement, culture and equity) to engage educators on how to conduct courageous critical conversations concerning race with today’s youth. In her TED Talk, Sumner examines the achievement gap and how it continues to negatively impact students in poverty. tlb
