If you haven’t checked out Edutopia’s #BESTYEAREVER, it is not too late!
During the course of the summer, Edutopia bloggers have featured wonderful resources to help teachers and administrators as they prepare to go back to school. In an August 7 post, Blogger Homa Tavangar highlights what I also think is an essential back-to-school supply — empathy. Like Tavangar, I believe empathy cannot be purchased. Empathy is one of those intangibles that “you can’t fit in a backpack.” I also believe there are creative ways to introduce and reinforce empathy to school age children. While Ms. Tavangar suggests several resources to help teachers and schools build an “empathy” toolkit, I found the resources on startempathy.org really helpful. Check out Ms. Tavangar’s post here for more details. tlb
