Not one to quickly or easily dismiss anything that might aid in student instruction and assessment, I have been watching the evolution of Common Core. This highly contentious tool has been applauded by some and dismissed by others. I have managed to remain primarily an observer of the Common Core debate; however, I would like to help share resources that (hopefully) will help us begin to have a conversation about how these standards might help schools create a framework in which to begin to adequately teach and assess students of all ages and backgrounds. This brings me to my first question: can the Common Core assessment tool help improve the way that teachers teach students to become deeper thinkers? I realize there are no easy answers; however, it does not mean we can continue to avoid the questions. Check out Thoughtful Learning here to see what you think. tlb
