Teaching has absolutely changed since I was a child. And, how we teach writing has changed drastically due in large part to major advances in technology. According to Beth Holland’s Redefining the Writing Process with iPads, the writing process changed once “we digitized the process.” Instead of using paper and pencil, students began to use “word processing programs.” For teachers, digitizing the writing process also changed the way that they assigned writing as well as how they assessed student writing. Suddenly, what use to be a private process “can be done publicly in pairs and even groups.” The best thing about the changes to the writing process is that it has made writing a truly creative process for students who may not enjoy writing. I know it has made teaching writing a lot more fun for teachers. Check out Beth’s blog for more tips on how to enhance the writing process for your students through the use of iPad technology. tlb
