During the build up to the start of the school year, I began to think about my goals for the year and how to support my team in accomplishing these goals. Three things came to my mind: what are we trying to do as a school, how do we go about getting things done, and what resources do we need? While these may appear to be generic questions, these are the kinds of questions that I hope will help us as we plan for the journey ahead this year. What is our journey ahead? This year, we will continue to create a child-centered environment where children discover, create, make mistakes (yes fail at something), and then try again. We will stretch and support our students when necessary and always in developmentally appropriate ways. And, we will accomplish all of these things by working together for the good of our students.
What’s ahead for you? What would you attempt to do this year if you were not afraid? Have a great year! tlb
I love this! We have assemblies and presentations (I’m about to go into classrooms for intro lessons myself!), where we ask the kids these questions. Great reminder for me to think about it in my own personal journey.
