Elements of a Safe Learning Environment

What does it take to create a safe learning environment? From a teaching perspective, many teachers would agree with the partial list in the photo. If you could ask your students what they need to feel safe within the school community, what would you add to your list? My list would include everything listed above and the following:

• the whole child is embraced
• a place where collaboration is fostered
• a creative space for learning
• active learning is encouraged
• differentiated instruction is the norm
• inclusive and welcoming learning community
