Like so many of my peers, I can remember the moment I decided to become a teacher. My moment came during my sophomore year in high school when I first discovered this quote from abolitionist and author, Frederick Douglas. What resonated with me (even at this young age) was the importance of building and shaping the lives of children. This idea took root and never left me.
