If you have visited principalaim recently, you know that I am on a mission to expose as many students to coding as possible — especially young girls. My wish to help girls learn how to code was made even stronger after “Google released data in late May showing that women account for only 17 percent of its tech employees.” Like so many educators and ed tech experts, “I believe it is not only about getting young girls excited about technology; it is also about keeping them excited and (more importantly) engaged about all things technology.” Remember, coding is only a hook to get girls interested in the field of technology. I believe that if we build good technology programs in the future with girls in mind; they will come. Check out the piece on http://www.nytimes.com. tlb
