If you are a frequent visitor to principalaim then you know how essential I believe it is for children to develop the ability to persevere (so that hopefully they grow up to be adults who possess grit). The notion that “grit” is an important skill set for children to learn is one that is being discussed in the world of education. While we can all agree grit is an important life skill to possess, we are still working to find concrete ways to teach grit while also teaching the three R’s. There are lots of resources out there about grit; however, I’d like to share a resource from CSEE. The folks at the Center for Spiritual and Ethical Education (CSEE) suggest four ways to foster the teaching of grit in our teaching environments. tlb
