I discovered an interesting post on Edutopia this morning by Joshua Block. His blog post resonated with me because his message was a reminder that learning isn’t always neat. Like Joshua, I believe “authentic learning can be a messy process.”
This is such an important concept to remember because for many children the messier the learning process the better their ability to grasp concepts and make real world connections. I love Joshua’s message because I have also seen “messy” learning work best in a project-based learning environment. Ultimately, I believe a true understanding of how children learn is essential to any learning environment. So let’s give students an opportunity to be messy.
